25th Volunteer Training Classes

KAFSC's 25th Volunteer Training is an intensive 8 week course that prepares bilingual volunteers for work on the 24-hour hotline. Training is given on the nature and incidence of domestic violence, rape, sexual assault, child abuse, and other related issues. Each session will entail different issues of domestic violence. Volunteers will learn techniques for crisis intervention and counseling, and details about community resources on a regular basis. When on hotline duty, volunteers are backed up by a staff counselor. When not covering the hotline, these volunteers provide valuable help and advocacy to clients in court, hospitals, schools, and social service agencies. Lunch will be provided, and a certificate will be awarded to eligible participants at the end of training. There is also a $60 material fee for the training. Training will take place every Saturday from 10:00am-3:00pm starting from September 11, 2010, to October 30, 2010.
