KAFSC's Housing provides shelter and transitional housing - survivors of gender based violence and their families. We are committed to increasing housing options for gender-based violence survivors and improving their access to existing housing resources.

KAFSC Shelter

KAFSC's Transitional Housing Program provides opportunities for clients to live in safe, scattered housing instead of communal living while remaining culturally and ethnically familiar areas for up to 18 months. All our participants  are able to receive the following comprehensive supportive services:

  • Risk assessment and safety planning for you and your children

  • One-to-one counseling and support

  • Transitional planning

  • Help with finding a new place to live

  • Help with getting financial support

  • Accompaniment, advocacy and referrals to court, hospital, lawyers, social services and community agencies by staff or volunteers.

  • Rent subsidy for up to 18 months

  • Childcare assistance

  • Counseling, case management, advocacy, and referral services to other community-based organizations and resources

  • Legal services with immigration and Order of Protection

  • Assistance finding permanent housing

  • Vocational and employment assistance

  • Immediate telephone support and information through the 24-hour bilingual hotline

KAFSC Shelter

The Rainbow House Shelter is a culturally safe space committed to providing comprehensive support to women and children in crisis. During their stay, it provides a vital doorway where they can

access culturally familiar food, legal assistance, counseling, and bilingual, bicultural staff who provides comprehensive services with culturally sensitivity.
