OUR WORK
Our Programs
The Korean American Family Service Center (KAFSC) provides culturally and linguistically competent, trauma-informed, multi-generational social services to the marginalized and under-resourced. While our doors are open to anyone, we have gained expertise serving Korean immigrant communities.

Counseling / Case Management / Support Groups
KAFSC offers a range of bilingual professional services for Korean international students and adults in Manhattan in the following areas:
-
Sexual assault and dating violence
-
Childhood sexual, physical, and emotional abuse,
-
Thoughts about death or suicide,
-
Relationship problems and family issues.
Every month, KAFSC provides free legal consultations with attorneys from local law firms and partnering agencies. Our monthly legal clinic helps survivors learn about their legal rights and options. Many individuals are represented pro-bono for a variety of different cases including divorce, child custody, VAWA, Order of Protections, among others.

Legal and Social Service Advocacy

Economic Empowerment
KAFSC’s Economic Empowerment Program is designed to assist immigrant and/or low-income individuals in obtaining employment opportunities so that they can lead an economically independent life.
Housing Program
We provide culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate long-term housing options for immigrant women who need to secure physical safety. We help them overcome many barriers and secure physical, emotional, and financial independence.

Community Outreach
and Education
The Community Outreach & Education Department raises awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault and promotes KAFSC services and programs through Outreach Events, Hotline Volunteer Dispatcher Training, Volunteer Opportunities, Educational Workshops, Participation in Community Events, and Media Articles & Interviews.
Children and Youth Services
The Korean American Family Service Center offers a wide range of children and youth programs to students of all ages. We serve mainly the Korean-American population, but others outside of the demographic are welcome to our children and youth programs.
