As part of KAFSC’s Economic Empowerment Program, we celebrated the launch of Between Two Languages: A Celebration of Writing, Memory, and New Beginnings at CPC One, marking the culmination of our five-week Summer ESOL Writing Workshop.

This year’s collection features essays, poems, and creative works by older Korean American adults, immigrant women, survivors, and community members who used writing to strengthen their English skills, reflect on their experiences, and find confidence in their voices. Guided by second-generation Korean American fellows Emily Hau, Irving Pincus, and Lennox Kim, the workshop created a meaningful space for intergenerational connection, self-expression, and healing across language and culture.

At the book launch, participants shared their writings, fellows reflected on their experiences, Councilwoman Linda Lee honored the writers with certificates, and KAFSC Board Chair Michelle Lee offered her congratulations.

Through Between Two Languages, KAFSC celebrates the courage and creativity of our community and the transformative power of storytelling to heal, connect, and inspire change.
